Agueda (Ortiz) Gonzales

Agueda Gonzales passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 10, 2024 in Las Vegas, NM.  She was born on December 1, 1924 in Variadero, New Mexico where she lived a life of devotion and love for her family and was unwavering in her faith until her demise.

            She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Justin Gonzales; her parents:  Apolonio and Beatrice Ortiz; brother, Cristino Ortiz; sisters: Conferina Ortiz, Benita Ortiz, and Dolores Griego; brothers-in-law: Ernesto Griego, Frank, Nick, Abe, Tim, and Fred Gonzales; sisters-in-law:  Adelicia Martinez, Senaida Gonzales, and Teresa Quintana.

            She is survived by her son, Tom (Thomas) Gonzales; daughter, Della (Gary) Vaisa; grandchildren:  Gil Vaisa, Audrey Villarreal (Christopher), Andrea Vaisa (Devin); great-grandchildren:  Kylie, Noah, and Jace Vaisa; Jacob, Isaiah, and Elija Villarreal; sisters-in-law:  Celina Alvidrez, Alice Gonzales, and Isabel Ortiz; and Niva Romero, who she loved like a daughter.

                        Besides being a homemaker, Mrs. Gonzales was very involved in the Sagrada Familia Church in Variadero and had numerous hobbies to include working on crossword puzzles, and hours of extensive reading.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her a considerable amount of joy and happiness.

            A Visitation will be held in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.  Services will be held in Friday, March 22, 2024 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church beginning with a rosary at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.  The interment will follow at the Holy Family Cemetery in Variadero, NM with the following serving as casket bearers:  Gil Vaisa, Noah Vaisa, Christopher Villarreal, Devin Medina, Gary Vaisa, and Thomas Trujillo.  Honorary bearers will be Audrey Villarreal, Andrea Vaisa, Kylie Vaisa, Jace Viasa, Jacob, Isaiah, and Elija Villarreal.
