Filomena Quintana Obituary

            Filomena G. Quintana, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and dear friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 92 on January 31, 2018.  Filomena was born on April 25, 1925 in Las Vegas, NM to Emilio and Tomasita Guerin.  She married Adan Quintana, her true love, on August 5, 1945.  After getting married they moved to California where they lived for many years and returned back to Las Vegas, NM in 1970, where Filomena continued to be a devoted housewife and mother.  She took pride in her sewing and cooking and loved making tortillas and sweet rice for her family.  She always looked forward to spending time with her family and celebrating birthday parties.  She loved going to the casinos and dancing.  Filomena and Adan were once active in the New Mexico Senior Olympics where they competed in dancing and shuffleboard.  Filomena won many medals and was very proud of her accomplishments.

            Filomena is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years, Adan Quintana; daughters, Cecilia Quintana and partner, Page Coleman of Albuquerque, NM, Rita Quintana of Las Vegas, NM, and Sylvia Quintana; as well as her sister, Frances Lucero of Las Vegas, NM.  She is survived by her in-laws:  Samuel and Inez Quintana, George and Stella Quintana, Margaret Quintana, and Agapito Jr. and Cathy Quintana; five granddaughters:  Terese Renee Montoya (Ronald) of Las Vegas, NM, Nicole Gallegos (Ronald) of Santa Fe, NM, Stacie Guerin (David) of Albuquerque, NM, April Furry (Ryan) of Albuquerque, NM and Jennifer Muniz (David) of Las Vegas, NM; nine great-grandchildren:  Iliana, Aiden, and Amara Muniz, Miranda and Javier Montoya, Dylan and Mackenzie Gallegos, and Raiden and Piper Furry. She was also preceded in death by her sisters:  Stella Garcia, Consuelo Quintana, Annie Garcia, Georgia Trujillo, and Bessie Martinez, as well as brother, Narciso Guerin, David Guerin, and Joe Guerin.

            A visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals and Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd.  Services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Church  with a rosary at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m.  Father Leon Vigil will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow at a later date in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Filomena’s life.  The family would like to especially thank the staff at Meadows Nursing Home for their care of their mother.
