LUIS A. AVITIA
The Mass of Christian Burial for Luis A. Avitia, 51, a resident of Serafina, NM and who passed away on Sunday, was celebrated this morning at 11:00 a.m. from Santa Rita Church in Bernal, NM. Father John McKenna celebrated the Mass. The interment followed in the Santa Rita Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Matthew Montano, Dominic Trujillo, Raymond Bustamante, Joseph Martinez, Jerry Duran, and Nestor Ramirez. Cipriano Aguilar delivered the eulogy. A parish rosary was recited Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
He is survived by his companion of 26 years, Ramona Bustamante of Serafina, NM; his father, Jose Avitia of Chihuahua, Mexico; one step-son, George Bustamante of Las Vegas; three step-daughters, Esther Montano and husband Matthew and Luanna Bustamante all of Bernal, NM, and Elizabeth Baca and her fiancé Jerry Aguilar of Las Vegas; two brothers, Melardo Avitia of Chihuahua, Mexico and Oscar Avitia and his wife Elvira of Las Vegas; four sisters, Luz Elena Valdez, Yolanda Chavez, Zulema Martinez, and Gloria Valdez all of Chihuahua; and ten grandchildren: Julian Bustamante, Natasha Vigil, Sebastian Bustamante, April Flores, Matthew Montano Jr., Raymond Bustamante, Leona Baca, Ashley Baca, Dominic Trujillo and Christopher Trujillo.
