MARY HELEN BARELA
Mary Helen Barela, 57, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque on Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frutoso and Katie Roybal; sisters: Victoria and Rosina Roybal, a brother, Tony Roybal, a brother-in-law, Raymond Barela, and her father-in-law, Ramon Barela.She is survived by her husband, Leroy Barela Sr. of Las Vegas; two daughters, Judy Lozano of Glendale, CA and Theresa Barela and companion Shane of Las Vegas; five sons, Ronnie Barela of Las Vegas, Leroy Barela Jr. and wife Julie of Villanueva, NM, Arturo, Paul and wife Angela, and David Barela all of Las Vegas; one sister, Theresa Montano of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Bennie Roybal and wife Esther of La Puente, CA and Ernesto Roybal also of California; a daughter-in-law, Juanita Gonzales of Santa Fe, NM; seven grandchildren including Shawntae Barela and companion Kyle and Felisha Barela all of Santa Fe; Dominic, Brandon, and Breeanna Graston all of Las Vegas, NM, Maria Julisa Barela of Villanueva, Adrianna Barela of Las Vegas and one grandson on the way; one great-granddaughter, Mariah Rose Otero of Santa Fe, NM; her mother-in-law, Stella Barela of Santa Fe; and the following brothers and sisters-in law: Joe and Fidencia Barela, Reyes and Corrine Barela, Eddie and Lupe Barela, Marcella Baca, Gilbert and Christine Barela, Danny Barela, Michael Barela, David Barela, Terry Barela, Debbie and Ronnie Rodela, Freddie and Dawn Barela, and Larry and Patsy Barela all of Santa Fe, NM. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She sincerely adored all her grandchildren and great-grandchild. A lover of movies and television, we will miss her critiques and suggestions. As a devoted wife and mother, Mary enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She was always turned to for advise and support. We love her tremendously and take great comfort in that she has joined her Savior for eternity. A rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 pm. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Cremation will follow and interment will be on Friday at 2:00 pm. in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
