Mauricio Tapia Jr., a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on June 16, 2018. He was born to his parents Mauricio Tapia and Adela Alemand Tapia on November 03, 1941 in La Liendre, NM. A catholic and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM. He proudly served in the United States Marines from 10/1960 to 10/1964. He was a plumber and gas serviceman for the City of Las Vegas and Self-Employed. He enjoyed baseball, coaching and umpiring. He reflected on his time as a Jaycee, bowling leagues, and Saturday breakfasts with the guys. His passions were fishing and hunting with “The Nephews”, the Suazos, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Kathleen Tapia. He is survived by his siblings: Robert “Bobby” Tapia, Mary Siriani, and Theresa Madrid; his children: Denise Suazo (Raymond) of Gilbert, AZ, and Mauricio Tapia III (Irene) of Waianae, Hawaii; grandchildren: Adela D. Tapia (Forest Moreno), G. Reyes Tapia (Sadie Munoz), Victor Suazo, Franchesca Suazo, Dolores Cachola Tapia, Alazay Kalama Tapia, and Deawna D. Tapia; and great-granddaughter: Izabella Aguilar and many family and friends, dearly noted Conne Trujillo. Pallbearers are G. Reyes Tapia and Victor Suazo. Honorary pallbearers will be Mauricio Madrid (godson), and “The Nephews”, Hank Tapia and Joe Tapia. He asked us to remember, “We Drank Wine, We Drank Whiskey, We’re the Class of 1960.” If you are the class of 1960, cheers!
Services will be held from the Immaculate Conception Church on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 8:00 p.m.. The Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.at the church. The interment will follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 12:45 p.m.
