Norman L. Compton, 82, a resident of Mineral Hill, NM passed away on December 27, 2017 at Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Reginald and Viola Straley Compton. He is survived by his wife Cornelia Compton of Mineral Hill, NM four sons: Phillip Compton and wife Tami of Mineral Hill, NM Eric Compton of the Dominican Republic, Paul Klinksiek and wife Roxie of Sequin, TX; and Stephen Klinksiek and wife Elizabeth of Edgewood, NM and one daughter, Ellen Lyons and husband Thomas of Palmdale, CA; one sister, Sandra Compton of Utah; and by 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was born on January 4, 1935 in Hunting Park, CA. A pilot, he was a Deputy Sheriff for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and was involved in the Search and Rescue for the State of California. He moved from California in 1988 and worked for the Air Lock Log Company here in Las Vegas and the Habitat for Humanity as a home builder. He married Cornelia Irene Hunt on July 3, 1994 on Dee’s Ranch in Mineral Hill. He was a Korean War Veteran serving with the 24th MP Company, U. S. Army and was honorable discharged on October 24, 1957. Donations in his memory can be made to the VFW Memorial Fund, c/0 VFW Post 1647 148 Mills Avenue, Las Vegas, NM. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date at the Dee’s Ranch in Mineral Hill.
