Alberto Abeyta

Alberto Abeyta, 104, a resident of Cleveland, NM passed away in Belen, NM on Thursday following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances just two months ago; his parents, Bentura and Dolores Duran Abeyta; a sist er Elena Abeyta, a brother, Jose Arcenio Abeyta, two sons, Rudy and Telesfor, and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Garcia.
He was born in Clayton, NM on April 14, 1908. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army and was a life member of American Legion Post #114 of Mora, NM.. A lifelong catholic, he was a member of St. Gertrude's Parish in Mora, NM. He is survived by two daughters: Dolores Emelia Tipton and husband Harry of Bosque Farms, NM and Ruby Elizabeth Blackwell and husband Larry of Socorro, NM; one son, Frank Abeyta and wife Lorraine of Bloomfield, NM; and a daughter-in-law, Josie Abeyta of Santa Fe, NM. 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; four nephews: Jose Arcenio Abeyta Jr., Alfredo Abeyta, and Francisco Abeyta all of Seattle, WA and two nieces: Patty Perdang and Mary Hernandez both of Seattle, WA. Casket bearers will be Rudy Albert Abeyta Jr., Robert Abeyta, Frank Abeyta Jr., Kyle Blackwell, Lorenzo Abeyta and Chris Abeyta.
Services will be held from St. Gertrude's Church with a rosary on Sunday evening, December 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Father James Sanchez will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow with military honors provided by VFW Post 1137 of Mora at the St. Anthony's Cemetery in Cleveland, New Mexico.
