ALEX E. MONTOYA

A rosary will be recited this evening at 6:00 p.m. from St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM for 73 year old Alex E. Montoya, a resident of El Carmen who passed away on Sunday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. from St. Gertrude Church with interment to follow in the San Antonio Cemetery in Chacon, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Adonilia Duran Montoya; a brother, his wife, Celia Medina Montoya; a brother, Joe Montoya; a cousin, Paul Duran; an aunt, Evangelina Lovato; and his grandfather, Juan Antonio Duran.He is survived by one son, Curt Montoya of Hawaii; a step-son, Felix Campos of Santa Fe, NM; two step-daughters, Marsha Lovato of Santa Fe and Perla of Colorado; one sister, Maria Sanchez and husband Estevan of Chacon, NM; and cousins, Lee Martinez and wife Natividad of Colorado, William Duran and wife Pat of Sheridan, WY, Virginia Duran and husband Elias of Chacon, NM, Mary Dominguez and husband Charlie of Colorado Springs, CO, and Raymond Duran and wife Sylvia of Las Vegas, NM.
He was a member of St. Gertrude Church in Mora and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman Second Class with two enlistments.He was an aircraft mechanic and served with the 413th Consol Aircraft Maintenance squadron and the 462nd Combat Defense Squadron and was discharged from service on April18, 1963. He was also a member of V. F. W. Post #1131 in Mora, NM.
