Anthony R. "Tony" Pena

Anthony "Tony" Pena, 68, a life long resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Sunday at St.Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, NM. He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Pena; his parents, Felipe and Celina Pena; sisters: Reggie Valdez, Charlotte Lucero and husband Herman, and Marcella Tafoya; one brother, Felipe Pena Jr. and wife Patsy; in-laws: Miguel and Eduvijen Vallejos; and a brother-in-law, Albert Vallejos.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cecilia of the family home; two daughters: Rachel Gray and husband Marvin of Gallup, NM, and Christine P. Pena of Las Vegas, NM; five grandchildren: Brandee L. Martinez and companion Joel Baca, Kimberley Aragon, Bryanna M. Sena, Brandon and Marissa Grey; a great-grandson, Elias Baca; four brothers-in-law: Severino Valdez and Mark Tafoya both of Las Vegas, NM, Bartolo Vallejos and wife Stella of Chacon, NM, and Felimon Vallejos and wife Shirley of Denver, CO;a sister-in-law, Irene Sanchez and husband Toby of Watrous, NM; a special cousin, Rose Pena of Las Vegas, NM numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Tony was born in Las Vegas, NM on January 23, 1941. He was a graduate of Robertson High School and had worked for serveral service stations in the Las Vegas area as well as the Las Vegas Lumber Company, Rogers Mortuary, and Gonzales Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held today from 10:00 a.m until 4:00 p.m in St. Francis Chapel of Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. All services will be held from the Immaculate Conception Church with a rosary at 7:00 p.m on Wednesday evening. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. Father George V. Salazar will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the family plot in
St. Anthony's Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Emelio Romero, Max Gallegos,
Bart Vallejos, Marvin Gray, Brandon Gray, John Frank Valdez, Phil Delgado, and Ignacio Trujillo. Honorary casket bearers will be Nappy Duran, Eddie Gutierrez, Tony Ortega, Toby Sanchez, Sefe Valdez, Tony Baca, and Herman Lucero.
