ANTONIO J. GUTIERREZ
Antonio J. Gutierrez, 85, a long time resident of Los Martinitos, NM, passed away on Thursday at St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan B. and Josefita Portillos Gutierrez; his wife, Eliza (Ruiz) Gutierrez; a son, Manuel A. Gutierrez; two daughters, Angelina R. and Marcella Gutierrez; a sister, Margaret Gutierrez; a brother-in-law, Edwardo Quintana; and two sisters-in-law, Maria and Mela Gutierrez.He is survived by seven sons: Alex J. Gutierez of Los Martinitos, NM, Carlos A. Gutierrez and wife Annette of Pueblo, CO, Urbano J. Gutierrez and wife Janet of Indiana, PA, David M. Gutierrez and wife Yolanda of Santa Fe, NM, Jesse E. Gutierrez of Albuquerque, NM, Lupe H. Gutierrez of Pueblo, CO, and Jerry L. Gutierrez and companion, Cheryl of Pueblo, CO; grandchildren: Connie Gutierrez, Concha Dawn (Gutierrez) Ortega; Jose Gutierrez, John Gutierrez, Jennifer (Gutierrez) Perez, JoAnn Gutierrez, Brian Gutierrez, Jesse E. Gutierrez Jr., Roman Gutierrez, Jacob Gutierrez, and Julian Gutierrez; one sister, Jesusita Quintana of Pueblo, CO; five brothers, Manuel R. Gutierrez and wife Maryann of Pueblo, CO, Crecencio Gutierrez and wife Ida of Pueblo, CO, Jose T. Gutierrez of Santa Fe, NM, Juan Gutierrez and wife Fermie of Pueblo, CO, and Max Quintana and wife Angie of Pueblo, CO; several other relatives, great-grandchildren, and friends. He married Eliza Ruiz on July 26, 1944, a relationship that lasted 52 years.He was born in Los Martinitos, NM on June 17, 1921. He attended school up until the third grade and attended the Luna Vocational School where he studied auto body repairs and upholstery. On November 16, 1942 he entered the Army Air Corps during World War II and served with the 448 Army Air Force obtaining the rank of corporal and was honorably discharged on February 22, 1946 at Ft. Bliss, TX. He was a member of American Post #24 of the American Legion for over 60 years. Antonio lived in Pueblo, Colorado where he was a rail mill heater operator for Colorado Fuel and Iron Corporation for 31 years. He loved working his ranch in New Mexico when he retired. He loved taking care of his cattle, horses, chickens, dogs and cats. He was a member of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and attended Our Lady of Sorrows Church.A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2007 in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Father C. John Brasher on Monday at 9:00 a.m. The interment will follow in Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in Tecolote, NM.
