Belarmino (Mino) Serna, 63, a resident of Morphy Canyon Road near Ledoux, NM, passed away at his residence on Tuesday afternoon following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Serna Sr.; a son, James Serna, and a brother, Ernest Serna Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rosie of Morphy Canyon; his mother, Rosita Serna of Brighton, CO; one daughter, Lisa Serna-Weltzheimer and husband James of Steamboat Springs, CO; two sons, Bill Serna and wife Dianna of Colorado Springs, CO, and Belarmino Serna and wife Susan of Denver, CO; four sisters: Theresa Madril and husband Chris of Phoenix, AZ, Anabelle Vigil and husband Leroy of Kiowa, CO, Grace Gallegos of Denver, CO, and Berna Romero and husband Ray of Mora, NM; three brothers: Roy Serna and wife Martha of El Carmen, NM, Albert Serna and wife Arlene of Northglenn, CO, and Andrew Serna and wife Tracy of Denver, CO; eight-grandchildren: Angela, Val, Dominick, Jimmy, Marissa, Soloman, Boyce, and Ava; and by two great-grandchildren, Alex and Ayden and numerous other family members.
He was born in Monte Aplanado, NM on March 11, 1946 and was a grocery supervisor for King Soopers in Colorado. On December 26, 1964 he was united in marriage to Rosie Cordova in Mora, NM. While in Colorado he lived Cursillo #22 and was active in various church ministries here in New Mexico such as Cursillo, Marriage Enrichment, Bereavement Groups, Enquentros, and the Eucharistic Ministry. He was a member of St. Gertrude's Church in Mora, NM.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. Services will be held from St. Gertrude's Church in Mora, NM with a rosary on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. The interment will follow in the San Jose Cemetery in Ledoux, NM. Serving as casket bearers will be Al Cordova, Tony Cordova, Paul Cordova, Chris Madril, Eli Chavez, and Leroy Vigil. Willie Romero will be an honorary casket bearer.
