Benito Vigil

Forever in our hearts, “Heavenly Departure”, a loving farewell and a life worth lived with heavenly hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle cousin, and friend, Benito Vigil, 79, who left us peacefully on November 1, 2024.  Benito was born on October 11, 1945 to Alejandro Lucero and Gregorita Vigil in Trujillo, New Mexico.  His warm spirit and contagious laugh will forever resonate in our memories.  Benito is preceded in death by his cherished son, Benito Lemos.

            He leaves behind, his loving wife of 49 years, Lucy-Lemos Vigil, along with his son, Mark Vigil and daughter-in-law Christina Baros.  He also leaves his daughter, Venita Vigil of Las Vegas, NM and Christina Navarrete and her husband Daniel of Las Vegas, NM.  Benito took immense pride in being a grandfather and is survived by his beloved grandchildren:  Desiree Vigil-Carol, Mark Vigil, Samantha Maestas, Eric Sanchez, Damion Maestas, Jesus Reyna, Benito Navarrete, Jarvis Lemos, and Xianalee Lovato-Lemos, as well as numerous great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.  A true socialite, Benito enjoyed breakfast every morning at La Fiesta Restaurant with his buddies Richard, Jake, and Baros. He had a passion for life, which included spending time at the casino with his dear friend, Jake.  Benito dedicated many years to his work and his passion for flooring led him to serve at Price’s Furniture and more.  He poured his heart into everything that he did, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.  Heavenly Departure is never easy, but we take solace in knowing that Benito’s spirit will remain forever in our hearts.  His laughter, warmth and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.  We invite family and friends to join in Benito’s remarkable life.  Rest in peace, dear Benito.  You will be missed but never forgotten.

            A visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd., Las Vegas, NM 87701, 505-425-9319. Cremation will follow.
