Carmen A. (Armijo) Blattman

Carmen A. Blattman, 85, a prominent and life long resident of Ocate and Las Vegas, NM, passed away unexpectedly on June 18, 2009 at Alta Vista Regional Hospital due to complications from emphysema. She is survived by her daughters, C.E. "Jeannie" Blattman of Ocate, and Linda Blattman of Wagon Mound, and special friend, Dorothy Angel; 15 nieces and nephews: Grady Raybon, Anita and husband Joe Naranjo, Roberto C. and wife Janie Armijo, Adea Armijo, Steve Armijo, Carla and Frank Bashore, Luis E. Armijo II, and United States District Judge Christina Armijo all of Albuquerque, Paul D. and wife Betty Armijo, Patricia and husband David Vigil of Las Vegas, John and Margaret Armijo of White Rock, John and wife Betty Blattman, Georgia Loloma of Santa Fe, Francesca Armijo of Pompano Beach, FL, Betty and Jack Graves of Juno Beach FL, Thomas C. and wife Joy Armijo of Ramsey, MN as well as numerous cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the honorable Judge Luis E. Armijo and Eugenia Delgado Armijo; her husband, prominent Mora County rancher, Glave G. Blattman; her son, Glave L. Blattman, her brothers and sisters, Carlos Armijo, who died in the WWII Bataan Death March, Luis F. and Mary Armijo, Roberto L. and Ann Armijo, and Mary Jean Maas.
During her early life, Carmen worked as deputy district court clerk for the Fourth Judicial Court District. Later she worked for the NM State Hospital as the director of personnel. She was also director of the Las Vegas Housing Authority before she moved to the family ranch in Ocate, NM. Her passion was her life in Ocate working along side her husband. She enjoyed fishing, cutting wood, and was a gifted strawberry gardener as well as a great cook who took great pleasure in gatherings of friends and family around her kitchen table. She also enjoyed working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles and it was not unusual for her to complete a 5000 pieces jigsaw puzzle in less than a day. She was always a caring listener who loved conversing and sharing stories. Her sense of humor and presence will be missed by all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place and private services will be held at a later date. The family had requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
