Catherine Amy Montoya

Catherine Amy Montoya, 36, a resident of Las Vegas, NM went to sleep in Jesus' arms on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Raymundo and Eloisa Montoya; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Cecilia Salas; an uncle, Paul Salas; and a cousin Marcus Bustos.
She is survived by her children Estevan Alarcon and her new born infant Arielle Montoya of Las Vegas, NM; her parents, Melecio Montoya and companion Betty Martinez of Los Montoyas, NM and Angelina Senior and husband Bruce of Bosque Farms, NM; one sister, Amanda Montoya and companion Chris Herrera of Los Lunas, NM; one brother, Billy Montoya and companion Patsy Roybal of Las Vegas, NM; and special nephews: Brandon Lucero and Dylan Montoya of Los Lunas, NM. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles and their families including Frances and James Lujan, Cathy and Gilbert Duran, and Theresa and Marvin Bustos all of Las Vegas, NM, Josie and Alfred Gonzales of Pueblo, CO, Rose Salas and companion Albert Campos of Santa Rosa, NM, Flora and Frank Herrera of Rowe, NM, Nancy and Jerry Manzanares, Mary Ann and Victor Perea, Priscilla and Johnny Ben Yara all of Las Vegas, NM, Pat and Agnes Montoya of Sheridan, NM, Fred Salas and companion Joann Fresquez and Robert and Regina Salas all of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her companion, Kevin Duran of Las Vegas, NM and numerous cousins and a multitude of friends.
Cathy was born on November 25, 1972 in Las Vegas, NM. She was a graduate of West Las Vegas High School. During her school years she enjoyed playing volleyball and was an avid reader and loved horses. She enjoyed cooking and her specialties were lasagna and enchiladas. She loved to do cross stitching, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She was a legal secretary having worked for the Nick Leger Law Firm and the Arthur Bustos Law Firm. During her short time here she brought much laughter, cheer, smiles, and a few tears. She brought two wonderful children into the lives of her family and friends.
All services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery in Tecolote, NM with the following serving as casket bearers: Albert Campos, Frankie Herrera, J. B. Yara, Teddy Manzanares, Albert Yara, and Thomas Salas. Serving as honorary bearers will be Brandon Lucero, Dylan Montoya, and Marcus Montano. The eulogy will be delivered by Arthur Bustos. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia, Las Vegas, NM 87701. Guests are welcome to visit with the family at the home of Marvin and Theresa Bustos at 2111 Hot Springs Blvd. Las Vegas, NM.
