Charles A. Martinez, Jr., a resident of Las Vegas, passed away at his home on Monday following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucy Martinez, Sr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adam and Della Maldonado; a son, Gerald Martinez; and a grandson, Raymond Charles Valencia.He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ida Martinez of Las Vegas, NM; a son, David Martinez of Las Vegas, NM; two daughters: Gerry Gladstone and husband Gary of Lakeport, CA and Maggie Lujan and husband Victor of Nambe Pueblo, NM; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Martinez of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren, Adam Lujan and wife Margeaux and Nichole Martinez; three great-grandchildren, Sevanna and Abelino and Estefanita Lujan; a brother, John B. Martinez and wife Daisy of Pueblo, CO; a brother-in-law, Joe Maldonado and wife CeCe of Pueblo, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was born in Walsenburg, CO on November 17, 1932. He graduated form St. Mary's High School in Walsenburg, CO and was united in marriage to Ida Maldonado on July 30, 1951 in Walsenburg. Charlie was the owner/operator of Rainbow International Carpet Cleaning Company doing business in and around the Las Vegas area for 22 years. He lived and worked in Pueblo, CO for 20 years and Raton, NM for 2 years prior to coming to Las Vegas. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. He enjoyed wood working and visiting and conversing with family and friends. He was a "Jack of all Trades", a wonderful friend and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Cremation has already taken place and a rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. He will be buried in the North Veta Cemetery in Walsenburg, CO at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at the Immaculate Conception Church.
