Chonita B. Hernandez (C de Baca)

Chonita B. Hernandez, 91, a long time resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away at her home on Sunday morning. She was preceded in death by her parents Cosme and Lucita C de Baca; her husband, Alfredo Hernandez; two sons: John and Michael Hernandez; a sister, Amada Stines; a brother, Vicente C de Baca; and a sister-in-law, Mary C de Baca.
She is survived by two daughters: Mabel and Timo Valerio of Las Vegas, NM, and Louise and Don Mosher of Rio Rancho, NM; four sons: Encarnacion and wife Regina Hernandez of Sunnyvale, CA, Raymond Hernandez and wife Viola of Phillips Ranch, CA; William Hernandez and wife Beverley of Hacienda Heights, CA, and Frank Hernandez of Las Vegas, NM; 21 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born in Loma Parda, NM on March 30, 1918 and was united in marriage to Alfredo Hernandez on June 6, 1941 in Wagon Mound, NM. The family moved to Las Vegas, NM in 1949 and had been living her ever since. She loved crocheting and working cross-word puzzles. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. followed by at rosary at 7:00 p. m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. Father George V. Salazar will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Carlos and Bennie C de Baca, Mark Valerio, Jeff Mosher, Ryan and William M. Hernandez. Her son, Encarnacion Hernandez will be delivering the eulogy.
