Clara (Sanchez) Gomez

Clara Gomez, 85, a resident of Peñasco Blanco, NM passed away on Sunday in the arms of her loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents Cipriano and Felicita Gonzales Sanchez; her step-mother, Guadalupe Saiz, Sanchez; her husband, Patrociñio Gomez; her brothers, Tomas, Fred, and Luis Sanchez; and a sister, Mary Padilla.
She is survived by five daughters: Josie Mascarenas and husband John of San Ignacio, NM, Bernilda Marrujo of El Carmen, NM, Pauline Gomez and Ramoncita Gomez both of Santa Fe, NM, and Patricia Vigil and husband Rick of Albuquerque, NM; three sons: Silviano Gomez and wife JoAnn of Rociada, NM, Mike Gomez and wife Joyce of Albuquerque, NM, and Jerry Gomez of Rociada, NM; five sisters: Maria Herrera of Las Vegas, NM, Jenny Sandoval of Anton Chico, NM, Alice Maes and husband George of Colorado Springs, CO, Teddy Gallegos and husband Benny of Las Vegas, NM; and Lena Trujillo of Greeley, CO; three brothers, Manuel Sanchez of San Geronimo, NM, Leroy Sanchez and wife Elsie, and Tony Sanchez and wife JoAnn all of Albuquerque, NM; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was born in Penasco Blanco, NM on October 29, 1924. She was united in marriage to Patrociñio Gomez in St. Gertrude's Church in Mora, NM in 1838, a relationship that lasted 54 years. Her hobbies were making quilts, vegetable gardening, and was a wonderful cook. Her
speciaity was her original pie crusts. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sapello, NM.
Services will be held from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sapello, NM beginning with a rosary this evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Father Patrick Duffey will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the San Ysidro Catholic Cemetery in Manuelitas with the following grandchildren serving as casket bearers: Marvin Mascareñas, Joseph Gomez, Marty Marrujo, Tim Gomez, Jerrito Gomez, and Alan Gomez. Honorary bearers will be the rest of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family have requested memorials be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
