He played on the basketball and softball teams. He was looked up to by his peers as a true leader. He served on the Student Council and Literary Society. He enjoyed participating with the Rifle club and Boy Scouts, especially all the camping trips. He chose the bakery as a vocational class then switched to the print shop which turned out to be his true calling. After graduation in 1959 he began working for the Las Vegas Daily Optic as a layout man using linotypes. He moved up to the composing room and dark room which he really enjoyed. He later moved up to the foreman of the composing and dark room under Stuart Beck. On July 23, 1960 he was untied in marriage to Faye Moss in Clovis, New Mexico. He retired from the Las Vegas Daily Optic after 40 years. After retiring from the Optic, he didn't want to stay at home, so he went to work at Price's Furniture owned by his sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Jess Price. He was a delivery man and enjoyed the out of town deliveries. He always had interesting stories to tell when he came home. He wanted to learn how to do upholstery as a hobby so he took classes with Mike Almanzar. This hobby soon became a little side business which he truly enjoyed. He was an active member of the New Mexico Association of the Deaf serving in several offices. He was instrumental in helping to set up the New Mexico Relay Network and the New Mexico commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. He served on the NM Relay Network Board for several years as well as the NM School for the Deaf Board. He helped his wife, Faye, with the Miss Deaf NM Pageant as the Fundraiser. He and Faye taught sign language classes for several years in Las Vegas. They also founded the Las Vegas Chapter of the NM Association for the Deaf.
Clarence was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with friends. He also mentored many youths in the Las Vegas community over the years. Clarence had a spunky sense of humor which everyone loved. He was loved and respected by everyone within the deaf and hearing community. He was a strong advocate for the deaf. He will be dearly missed.
