DAN G. RUBIO
Dan G. Rubio, 76, a life long resident of Las Vegas, passed away at Alta Vista Regional Hospital on Friday evening following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Theresita Rubio; his wife, Margaret; and his brothers and sisters, Arthur Rubio, Rose Rubio Bennie Rubio, Carmen Rubio, Cecilia Martinez, Joe Rubio, and Mary Spencer. He is survived by two daughters: Anna Marie McClellan and husband Billy of Las Cruces, NM and Jane Rubio of Rifle, CO. and one granddaughter, Jenna McClellan of Las Cruces, NM and other relatives.Dan was born here in Las Vegas on May 25, 1930. He entered the U. S. Army on May 10, 1951 and served with the 563rd RD MP Company, 6th Army Area. He received the UN Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars and was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal on April 21, 1953 at Ft. Ord, CA. He received his early education here in Las Vegas and received his BA Degree from New Mexico Highlands University. On August 3, 1963 he married Margaret Candelaria in Albuquerque, NM. He was an elementary school teacher and taught in Grants, NM and for the West Las Vegas School System. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish and enjoyed visiting his granddaughter, Jenna and was a caregiver taking care of his family.A visitation will be held today from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. All services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary this evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
