David “Dave” Thomas Bibb II passed away on July 20, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico to David “Dee” Thomas and Mabel Bibb, he lived a life filled with purpose, compassion, and creative brilliance. After leaving Robertson High School, he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music from New Mexico Highlands University, a reflection of his profound dedication to the arts.
On August 17, 1963, Dave married his soulmate, Mary Kay Bird, whom he had introduced himself to a year prior in the Highlands University swimming pool. Together, they had five beautiful children—Mary Beth, David, Jim, Melodee, and Melanie—and created a home filled with love, music, and the worship of God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Kay; his daughter Melodee, and his sisters Bettye, Ruth, and Myrtle Bee.
Dave’s career as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation spanned 23 years, serving in offices from New Orleans, Los Angeles, Victorville, CA., Gallup and Santa Fe, NM. His work on high profile cases—from kidnappings to counterespionage—reflected unwavering commitment to justice and integrity. Following his retirement from the FBI, Dave worked for 13 years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Security and Intelligence Specialist. He also remained active in law enforcement through the New Mexico Mounted Patrol.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dave was a gifted musician whose talents brought joy to countless hearts. He was a soulful singer and a master of many instruments, including the organ, piano, accordion, and harmonica. His clever wit and disarming humor made him the heartbeat of every room, and his laughter was a melody that lingered long after the moment had passed.
He will be remembered not for what he achieved but for the light he brought to others through his music, his kindness, and the steadfast love he gave to his family and friends.
