David N. Gonzales, 88, a long time resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Sunday following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Lucia Gonzales; his wife, Eloisa M. Gonzales; two sons: Frank and George Peter Gonzales; a daughter, Theresa Bengson and husband Chip; a grandson, John Paul Gonzales; an uncle, Pablo B. Gonzales; one sister-in-law, Lila Quintana; a brother-in-lawJoe A. Quintana; and four sons-in-law, Ermie Garcia Jr., Fernando Echeverri, Felix R. Barela, and Pete M. Aragon.He is survived by six daughters: Mary Lou Dominquez of Fontana, CA, Angie Gonzales and husband Leroy of Mora, NM, Lorraine Barela and companion Ron of Rio Rancho, NM, Isabel Gonzales and companion Tony Quinones of Albuquerque, Helen Baca, and Josephine Gonzales both of Las Vegas, NM; three sons: Fermin Gonzales and companion Mary Jaramillo of Lelia Lake, TX, Juan Gonzales of Tucumcari, NM, and Joseph Gonzales of Las Vegas, NM; two daughters-in-law, Rosalie Gonzales and Isidra Gonzales both of Las Vegas, NM; a son-in-law, Ron Cockrell of Albuquerque, NM; twenty three grandchildren: Steven and Sherod Leewright, Eliceo Dominguez, Nancy Montgomery, Suzanne Gonzales, Estrella Tafoya, Estevan Gonzales, Julio Gonzales, Bryan Cockrell, LaVonne Cockrell, Charles, Alfonso, and Felicia Barela, Fernando and Quena Echeverri, Michael Estrada, Angelica and Stephanie Baca, Evelyn Garcia, Reyes Gonzales, Norma Jean Aragon, Patrick Gonzales, and Adam Gonzales; 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was born on May 10, 1920 in Cuervo, NM and at the age of five moved to Las Vegas and had been a resident here for the past 83 years. He married Eloisa Marquez on February 24, 1941 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. He worked in the kitchen, housekeeping, laundry, hospital attendant, and psychiatric tech at the Las Vegas Medical Center for 26 years. He was a foster grandparent for 16 years and did volunteer work in the kitchen at the Senior Citizens Center. A life long catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and served as a mayordomo, a minister of the holy eucharist, and was a member of the Sociedad de San Jose and was a cursillista.
