Dolores "Lola" (Aragon) Benavidez

Dolores "Lola"Benavidez, 73, a long time resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Monday at Alta Vista Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fernando Benavidez; a son, Irwin Levi "Rocky" Benavidez; her mother, Jesusista Aragon; an uncle Antonio Aragon, and an aunt Josie Miranda; and a sister-in-law, Emma Aragon-Roybal. She is survived by a daughter, Martha Lee Benavidez of Las Vegas, NM; a son, Michael Benavidez and wife Angela of Las Vegas and step children Danielle, Derek, and Brittany and grandchildren Leah and Therese; two brothers, Juan Ernesto Aragon of Las Vegas, NM and Ben Aragon and their son Randy of Lakewood, Colo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Mrs. Benavidez retired from the New Mexico State Hospital after 22 years serving as a supervisor in the children's unit. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Chris Herrera Jr., Derek Benavidez, Jimmy Hara, Mark Baca, George Yara, and Gene Gallegos. Honorary bearers will be Randy Aragon, Steve Aragon, Jake Yara, and Joe Romero. The eulogy will be delivered by Loretta Esquibel.
