EDDIE "NACHO" GALLEGOS

Eddie "Nacho" Gallegos, 48, a life long resident of Las Vegas, passed away in Albuquerque on Thursday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Josefina Gallegos and a sister, Rosalia Gallegos. He is survived by one daughter, Melanie Gallegos of Las Vegas; four sons, Eddie Raul Gallegos of Rio Rancho, NM, Anthony Esquibel and Gary Allen Vallejos both of Las Vegas, and Ignacio Eddie Gallegos Jr. of Las Cruces, NM; his companion, Deborah Sandoval of Las Vegas, NM; three brothers, Gene Gallegos and wife Julia of Las Vegas, NM, Gilbert Gallegos and wife Luisa of Denver, CO, and Arturo Gallegos and wife Ruth of Delta, CO; two sisters, Mary Yolanda Cunningham and husband Richard and Inez Salazar and husband Rudy all of Las Vegas, NM; a granddaughter, Lexi Jade Lynn Gallegos of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was born in Las Vegas, NM on July 30, 1958 and was a West Las Vegas High School graduate and attended Highlands University. He joined the U. S. Army on February 16, 1982 and was a watercraft operator for the 320th Transportation Company and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class. He received the Army Service Ribbon and the Sharpshooter Badge while in the service. Ed enjoyed music and played the guitar. He had worked for both Rogers Mortuary and Gonzales Funerals & Cremations and also worked on cars as a mechanic and ride his motor cycle. He worked at the fiberboard plant, was a security guard at New Mexico Highlands University, and was a heavy equipment truck driver and worked for George Lyster Construction Company and for Crespin Trucking and Paving Company. He loved to fish, hunt, shoot pool and was extremely friendly and willing to help everybody.Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary this evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the Nuestra Senora del Refugio Cemetery in Los Vigilles.
