ELLA ALMA ERICKSON
Ella Alma Erickson, 97, loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, went home to her Lord on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center She was born in Custer Township, Minnesota on May 12, 1909 to the late Edward and Bertha Gurke Gannott. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Erickson; her two brothers, Paul and George; her two sisters, Ida and Elsie; and her daughter-in-law, Joan Erickson. She was united in marriage to Paul Erik Erickson on October 15, 1936. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Erickson of Marshall, Minnesota and Erik Erickson and wife Deborah of Las Vegas, NM; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Ella loved her family and was raised on a farm in southern Minnesota and enjoyed all the activities of a farm. She had many friends, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking and canning, playing cards, dancing, and doing things for others. Ella lived all her life in southern Minnesota until the fall of 2001 when she moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico to live with her son, Erik and his family.
A prayer service will be conducted this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd., 425-9319. Rev. Richard Reed of St. Paul's Peace Episcopal-Lutheran Church officiating. Following services here, she will be forwarded to Slayton, Minnesota for services on Saturday morning at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton, Minnesota. She will be laid to rest besides her husband Paul at Restland Memorial Gardens in Slayton, Minnesota.
