Emma Lujan (Emma Mares)

Emma M. Lujan, 77, a life long resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Saturday morning at Alta Vista Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Annie Ludi Mares and a brother, Felipe Mares Jr.She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Cecilio Lujan of Las Vegas, NM; three daughters, Lucy Galloway and Joyce Lujan both of Albuquerque, NM and Becky Lujan of Las Vegas, NM; one brother, Wilfred Mares and wife Thelma of Las Vegas, NM; two sisters, Marie Mares and Rebecca Vigil and husband Fernando all of Las Vegas, NM; two grandsons, Jason Galloway and wife Danielle and Justin Galloway all of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters-in-law, Jennie Mares and Petra Lujan all of Las Vegas, NM and Petra Lujan of Albuquerque, NM; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Lujan and wife Amy of Albuquerque, NM and Elizardo Lujan of Trementina, NM; and by two uncles and many nieces and nephews.She was born her in Las Vegas, NM on August 12, 1929 and was united in marriage to Cecilio Lujan on May 19, 1954 here at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Friends of the Carnegie Library, the Senior Aerobics, and the Volunteer Fireman's Auxiliary. She loved to read and do jigsaw puzzles, painting by numbers, and being with her family. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary Tuesday evening at 7:00 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Father Patrick Duffy will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
