Epifanio Lucero Obituary

The patriarch of the family, Epifanio Eppie Lucero, 94 entered into eternal peace at his home on October 7, 2024.  He was born in Chaperito, NM to the union of Miguel and Juanita Rivera Lucero.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Juanita Lucero; grandson, Brian Romero; great-grandson Elias Arellanes; brothers: Antonio, Filadelfio and Severiano Lucero; sisters:   Felix Salaz (Ernesto), and Fidelia Ulibarri (Frank); in-laws: Enrique and Sotera Gomez.

            He is survived by his wife of 71 years Isabel (Chavela) Lucero of Las Vegas, NM; daughters: Geri Tripp (William) of Las Vegas, NM, Dorothy (Sonny) Lujan of Pueblo. CO., Carla (Charlie Romero) of Las Vegas, NM; grandchildren: Antoinette Arellanes (Roberto), Jaclyn Tripp all of Rio Rancho, NM, Louis Chavez (Amanda), Lori Amaro (Phillip) of Pueblo, CO, Miguel Lucero of Las Vegas, NM; great-grandchildren: Lourdes and Joss Arellanes, Alexia and Leila Amaro, Zach, Julian (Laura), Jason and Kendall Gutierrez, Michelle and Alexandra Martinez, and Isiah Hartington; a great-great granddaughter  Isabella Kramer; brothers Esequiel Lucero (Alice) and Albert Lucero of Las Vegas, NM; sisters-in-law: Mary Martinez Alirez and Teresa Barela; brother-in-law Willie Gomez (Carmen); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

            Eppie was a proud member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged from Camp Atterbury, Indiana on February 14, 1953.  Eppie enjoyed Rodeo, going to the flea market and his walks in the neighborhood.

            A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals and Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. from 1:00 pm until 3:00 p.m.

Services will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from the Immaculate Conception Church with a rosary at 5:00 p. m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from the church by Father Dennis Garcia.  The interment will follow with military honors in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jaclyn Tripp, Louis Chavez, Miguel Lucero, Phillip Amaro, Roberto and Joss Arellanes.
