Ernie Pacheco Sr., 55, a resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Saturday at his ranch at Empedrado, NM following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Pacheco; his father-in-law, Luis Roybal, his maternal grandmother, Evarista A. Baca; three brothers-in-law, Rudy Lopez, Chris Patron, and Alex Lucero; a sister-in-law, Margie Patron; and a niece, Debbie Patron.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie M. Pacheco of Las Vegas, NM; two sons: Ernesto Pacheco Jr. and wife Desiree of Santa Rosa, NM and Chris Patron and wife Amanda of El Paso, TX; one daughter, Amanda Pacheco and companion Jerome of La Loma, NM; his parents, Mauricio and Mary Pacheco of Las Vegas, NM; four grandchildren: Jadyn Patron of El Paso, TX, Dylan, Daelyn, and Daryn Pacheco of Santa Rosa, NM; three brothers: Robert Pacheco and wife Stella and Eloy Pacheco and wife Patsy all of Las Vegas, NM, and Danny Pacheco and wife Theresa of Greeley, CO; four sisters: Martha Lopez and companion Margarito Ulibarri, Lillian Trujillo and husband Johnny all of Las Vegas, NM, Elizabeth Garcia and husband Archie of Hobbs, NM, and Annabelle Pacheco and husband Paul of Mora, NM; seven sisters-in-law: Alice Lucero and husband Raquel of Ojitos Frios, NM, Theresa Lucero, Dolores Romero and husband Paul, and Helen Roybal and husband Richard all of Las Vegas, NM, Betty Benavidez and husband Joe of Pueblo, CO, and Lulu Romero and husband Joseph of Ocate, NM; and a special god-daughter, Kimberly Lucero of Las Vegas, NM, and by numerous nephews and nieces who he loved dearly.
He was born in Las Vegas, NM on June 22, 1954. After graduating from high school he was united in marriage to Marie Roybal on October 12, 1974 in Las Vegas. His wife, his children and his grandchildren were the love of his life. His favorite past time was spending time at his ranch in Empedrado with all his animals and his dog Sassy. He loved his coffee (chanete), enjoyed fishing, basketball, and was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and was the vice-president of the Sociedad de San Antonio de Padua de Los Montoyas.
All services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the family cemetery in Empedrado, NM with the following relatives serving as casket bearers: Arcenio Garcia, P. J. Pacheco, Kevin Lopez, Joey Romero, Julian Pacheco, Adrian Gonzales, Mark Pacheco, Jason Pacheco and Daniel Roybal. Honorary casket bearers will be all his nephews and nieces. The eulogy will be delivered by Eloy Pacheco. Donations can be made to the Heating & Airconditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
