Eva Rains Archuleta, long time Las Vegas resident, passed away September 30, 2025 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was born on October 20,1926 in Las Tusas, New Mexico to Salome and Eduardo Rains. She lived in Rainsville along with her six brothers and sisters. While attending Highlands University Training School, at 16, she met her future husband Bennie Seferino Arachuleta. They married in June, 1946, when Bennie returned from serving in the US Army in Europe during WWII. Eva and Bennie had four sons, living in Las Vegas and Denver before settling for good in old Vegas. Eva was a homemaker, while working part time at Olivas Grocery and JC Penney. She enjoyed growing flowers and helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eva was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas and was involved with the Catholic Daughters of America, providing comfort and communion to many in the area. Her great faith was an inspiration to all around her.
She is survived by her son Toby (Anita), daughter-in-law Theresa Archuleta, grandchildren Christopher (Lena), Angelo (Theresa), Steven (Kim), Danny (Jenna), Richard, Audrey, Anita, Alex (Lauren), Nick, many great-grandchildren, and sisters Annie and Rupe. She was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Sr., and sons Bennie Jr., Ruben and Anthony.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Friday, November 7, 2025 beginning with a rosary at 9:00 a.m. The funeral Mass will follow. The interment of her cremated cremains will be in the San Ignacio Family Cemetery.
