Frank M. “Pancho” Dominguez passed away peacefully February 5, 2021 after a long illness. Frank was born December 27, 1938 in Las Vegas, NM to Matias and Lucia Dominguez. He married Rosina Martinez January 16, 1960. Together Pancho and Rosina raised their family, grew a business and always enjoyed life together.
Frank graduated from West Las Vegas HS in 1957. He was skilled in many areas. He worked as a health attendant, a dispatcher for the police department, a glass glazier and was a foreman at Las Vegas Lumber. An entrepreneur at heart, he became a dealer for Doxol Gas as the owner of Suburban Gas Service. Doxol Gas honored him with many awards for “his business ability in the installation and servicing of LP gas systems and appliances”. In 1976, Frank and Rosina purchased Shillinglaw Heating and Cooling. Together with their son, Frank, they grew the business. The company served many families and businesses in Northern New Mexico. During this time he employed many from the community. What he enjoyed most about being a business owner was the opportunity to tell stories about Las Vegas, his family and friends while he was working. He was quite the oral historian.
Pancho loved our community. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish and served as a member of the Parish Council and as a “mayordomo”. He was a cursillista. He was a member of E. Romero Hose and Fire Co. and was honorably discharged from the National Guard of New Mexico.
