Gary M. Valdez

Gary Martin Valdez, 56, a resident of Mora, NM, was called to heaven on July 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father, Max Valdez; nephews, Miles Martinez and Max Valdez. Also waiting for him with loving arms are his paternal and maternal grandparents, and god parents, Lucas and Elias Valdez.
He is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Nellie Valdez of Mora, NM; two daughters, Felicia La Rocco of Dallas, TX and Ashley Valdez of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Angelina and Alex; four brothers: Ernie Valdez and wife Virginia of Rio Rancho, NM, Edward Michael Valdez and wife Linda of Santa Fe, NM, Glen Valdez and wife Mary of Las Vegas, NM, and Steve Valdez and partner Ruby of Mora, NM; two sisters: Therese Cassidy and husband Matthew of Rio Rancho, NM and Judie Martinez and husband Nash of Mora, NM; a special niece, Michelle Valdez and son Joseph; nieces and nephews: Ralph and Greg(Beverly) Montoya, Ernesto (Ana) Reno, Erica Valdez, Kedric(Bianca)Valdez, Austin ((Crissy) Martinez, and Julie and Christina Romero; grand nieces and nephews: Dante, Jordan, Angelina, Mariana, Avaihabella, Blessing Rayne, Aiden, Joseph, Dante, Kedric, Lynniah, Camden, Bailey, Beau, Bandi, Brady, Anayah, and Alexis; god mothers: Marcella and Consuelo Valdez; special friends, Dickie and Fidel Trujillo, and Doug Martinez; and numerous other friends and relatives.
Fishing, hunting, and camping were his favorite outdoor sports. He was creative with arts and crafts and always bragged about his biscuits, cabbage, chile stew and lasagne. No one would argue with him about his Denver Broncos and if he could wager on them, he would have done it at his favorite casinos. His talents in carpentry, masonry, and auto mechanics were shared by anyone whom ever needed his help. He was willing to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return. He was a member of St. Gertrude's Parish in Mora,NM.
Services will be held from St. Gertrude's Parish in Mora, NM with a rosary on Monday evening, July 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Father James Sanchez will celebrate the Mass. Serving as casket bearers will be Ernie Valdez, Edward Michael Valdez, Glen Valdez, Steve Valdez, Austin Martinez, and Kedric Valdez. Honorary bearers will be Nash Martinez, Matthew Cassidy, Dickie Trujillo, Fidel Trujillo, Doug Martinez and Joseph Roybal. Cremation will follow with private burial.
