GILBERT SENA SR.
Gilbert Sena Sr., 77, a retired West Las Vegas businessman and owner of Gil's Lock and Key Shop, passed away on Saturday evening at his residence in the arms of his loving family. Besides his parents, Graciano and Cipriana Jaramillo Sena, he was preceded in death by his son, Ruben Sena; daughters Ramona Henley and Judith Sena; his in-laws, Marcial and Ramona (Salazar) Marquez; his sisters, Jesus Sena and Corina Martinez; and his brothers, Frank and Juan Sena.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edwina M. Sena of the family home; three sons: Matthew Sena and wife Rose, Gilbert Sena and wife Mary Ann, and Marcial Sena and fiancé Yvonne all of Las Vegas, NM; three daughters, Mary Hernandez and husband Tony of Hudson, WI, Cindy Sena-Martinez and husband Dez of Anchorage, Alaska; and Stacey Sena-Jaramillo and husband Felix of Las Vegas, NM; four sisters, Adela Jaramillo of Lamar, CO, Katalina Chacon of Las Vegas, NM, Sarah Duran of Lamar, CO, and Mary Lou Karr of Hesperia, CA; three brothers, Eugenio Sena and wife Eva and Roger Sena and wife Mabel of Las Vegas, NM, and Graciano Sena Jr. and wife Marylou of Raton, NM; sisters in-law, Carmen Sena of Las Vegas, NM, Judy Sena of Tennessee, 22 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and other extended family members.He was born in Broomfield, Colorado on July 20, 1929. He enjoyed fishing, casinos, celebrating "any occasion" with family, BBQing, coin and stamp collection, traveling, and hunting. He was a member of San Juan Argonne Post #1547 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 17 and Eagles Aerie #3815. He was also a member of the National Locksmith Association and at one time was a deputy sheriff for San Miguel County and belonged to the Sheriff's Posse. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran and received two purple hearts, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the United Nations Service Medal with 7 battle stars, the national Defense Service Mission Medal, the Far East Service Medal, the Korean War Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with one star. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and belonged to the Sociedad de San Jose.A visitation will be held on Wednesday in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. from 10:00 am. until 4:00 p.m. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. The interment will follow in the Santo Nino Cemetery in Los Alamitos with full military honors. The family have requested that in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made in his memory to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
