Guadalupe "Lupe" Adan Trujillo, a resident of Romeroville, NM passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 12, 1916 (the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe) to Geronimo Trujillo and Flora Lobato Trujillo in Encinosa, New Mexico. He married Lillian Jacoby on August 6, 1936 in Las Vegas, NM, a relationship that lasted 69 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian; his parents, Geronimo and Flora; and by his brothers, Tony and Sam. In addition, his brother-in-law, Ernest Lucero and son-in-law, Dan Shook. He is survived by his children: Mary Lou Trujillo of Albuquerque, Henry Trujillo and wife Theresa and Carmen Holguin and husband Daniel all of Las Vegas, NM, Phillip Manuel Trujillo and wife Margaret of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Cathy Shook of Albuquerque, and Anna Espinoza and husband Joseph of Rio Rancho, NM. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Victor Martinez of Las Vegas, David and Anthony Martinez of Albuquerque, and Eddie Martinez (Mary) of Las Cruces; Jonathan Trujillo (Sonia) of Albuquerque, Theodore Trujillo and Victoria Brown (Shannon) of Las Cruces, and Jeanette Trujillo (Adrian) of Abilene, TX; Martina Holguin of Las Vegas; Jennifer Rodriguez (Alex) of Loveland, CO. and Phillip (Andrea) Trujillo of Santa Fe; Lucinda Martinez (James) and Marcos Espinoza of Las Vegas. He is also survived by twenty great-grandchildren: Andres (Bernadette) Martinez, Nicole Martinez, Brian and Ashley Martinez, Sage Martinez, Rianne, LoReina, Diego, Connor, Cameron and Sierra Trujillo; Erika and Andrew Trujillo, Brandon, Alexis, Caitlyn and Sara Rodriguez, Samantha, Julian and Isa Martinez. Two great-great-grandchildren: Adan and Nicholas Martinez. Also surviving is his sister, Nina Lucero of Fremont, CA and his many nieces and nephews.Upon his retirement from the New Mexico Medical Center, he retired to Romeroville, NM to raise his animals. He always had a passion for his farm animals and sowing and planting his garden. Prior to working at the Medical Center, he was a self-employed carpenter. He prided himself in a "job well done". He always strived for perfection in his work. One of his other passions was reading the Albuquerque Journal and the Las Vegas Daily Optic every day - no one could tear anything out of it until he had finished reading it. He imbued this love of reading the newspaper to his children. In his last years, he had to have the newspaper to read to him everyday, any you could not leave anything out! He especially liked to hear about world events and politics. He had a quiet demeanor, but his voice was always heard in his household. He was a loving father and he will be missed by his family.A visitation will be held today from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. All services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary this evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, NM.
