It is with deep sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of Helen Torrez. Helen was incredibly strong and resilient woman. She was driven by her profound love for her children. She was known for her amazing cooking skills and fresh home made bread. She also loved dancing and fishing.
Helen was born in Ribera, N. M. on June 19, 1934 to the late Cardenio and Faustina Chavez. She was the oldest of eight siblings. She is preceded in death by all her siblings. Helen passed away on May 4, 2025 while a resident of La Vida Buena Nursing Home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Torrez; her children: Harold Encinias, Jaime Encinias,enjamin Encinias, Fulgencio Encinias and Stella Encinias. She is survived by her daughter, Faustina Dannenfelser of Glendale, Arizona and son Cardenio Encinias of Las Vegas, New Mexico. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchilden. Special mention to her granddaughter Stella Encinias for years of selfless acts of kindness towards her grandmother.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the San Miguel del Vado Church on Sagebrush Way, Ribera, NM. Helen’s cremated remains will be laid to rest with her mother, Faustina Chavez at the San Miguel Cemetery.
