Henry R. Brito Jr., 76, a long time resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away at his home on Saturday following a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Brito Sr. And Florencia Marcella C de Baca; and his brothers, Walter and Marty Brito.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Esther of the family home; two sons, Michael Brito and wife Carolena Van Trapp of St. Petersburg, FL, and Father Larry Brito of San Juan Pueblo, NM; four daughters: Christine Brito of Colorado Springs, CO, Ruth Ann Armijo and husband Randall of Las Vegas, NM, Juanita Snyder and husband Jimmy of Los Alamos, NM, and Elizabeth Torrez and husband Joseph of Colorado, Springs, CO; four sisters: Priscilla Reynolds and Camille Brito both of Albuquerque, NM, Mary Angela Brito of Las Vegas, NM, and Peggy Gray and husband Danny of Wagon Mound, NM; two brothers, J immy Brito of Albuquerque, NM and Peter Brito and wife Aurora of Brownsville, TX; one aunt, Carmen Pace of Las Vegas, NM; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brito was born in Santa Fe, NM on May 15, 1934. He graduated from Grants High School where he worked in the mines and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps with the rank of Sergeant. He was united in marriage to Esther Maes on September 2, 1956 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. He attended the Univesity of New Mexico and moved to Las Vegas where he built his home. He was a member of the U. S. Army National Guard and attended Luna Vocational Technical Institute. His hobbies included carpentry and
fishing and enjoying his grandchildren. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church where he attended daily mass and served as a mayordomo. He was also a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier after serving 30 years.
Services will be held from Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. Father Larry Brito will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in the family plot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrow Church, 403 Valencia Avenue, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
