Ignacio "Bode" Crespin, 77, a life long resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Sunday following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwardo and Refugio Gold Crespin; his two brothers: Edwardo Crespin Jr., and Richard Crespin and wife Darlene; a sister, Rosie Lovato and husband Phillip Lovato Jr.; brothers-in-law, Jerry Garduño and Bobby Saminiego; a sister-in-law, Cora Montoya; special aunts, Efren Padilla, Mary Gold, and Lucy Bustos; a great-aunt, Porferia Garcia and father and mother-in-law Joe and Arcelia Montoya.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Amelia Montoya Crespin of Las Vegas, NM; four sons: Ronnie Crespin, John Crespin and wife Dolores, Joseph Crespin all of Las Vegas, NM, and Sam Crespin of Albuquerque, NM; three daughters, Clarabell Gallegos and companion William Sedillo and Sharon Romero and sonr-in-law Ralph all of Las Vegas, NM, and Veronica Crespin of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Arturo Crespin and wife Priscilla of Las Vegas, NM; two sisters, Mary Louise Saminiego of Iowa and Tessie Garcia and husband Joe of Washington; grandchildren, Viola Ortiz and husband Joseph, Denise Romero, Abel Romero, Sarah Romero, Chris Gallegos, Angelica Gallegos, Gabrielle Crespin, Aliana Crespin Kayla Crespin, Leonard Marquez, Theodore, Melissa, and Josh Gonzales, and Jessica and Johnny Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Joseph Ortiz and Keianna Romero; sisters-in-law, Cruzita Crespin of Las Vegas, NM, Emma Garduño of Thorton, CO, Doris Baca and husband Jake of Denver, CO, Aurora Paiz and husband Gene of Commerce City, CO, Frances Herrera and husband Danny of Springer, NM, and Renee DeLeon and husband Fernando and Della Valerio and husband Louie all of Las Vegas, NM; three brothers-in-law, Carlos Montoya and wife Julia and Phillip Montoya all of Albuquerque, NM, and Frank Montoya and wife Annette of Las Vegas, NM.
A life long catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. He was born here in Las Vegas on March 5,1933. He served one enlistment in the United States Army and served from April 23, 1953 until he was honorably discharged on April 15, 1955 as a PFC/(t) from Ft. Bliss, Texas and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He was a truck driver with the 82nd Transportation Company in France. Most of his life he was a highway construction worker and worked for the Sierra Transit Company for 15 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, reading the National Geographic and the Bible.
The interment will follow in the San Jose Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Abel Romero, Christobal Gallegos, Joseph Gregory Ortiz, Edward Crespin, Manuel Crespin, and Richard Garcia. Memorials may be sent to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia Street, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
