Isabel (Chavela) Yara, 92, formerly of Trementina and Trujillo, NM, and a long time resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday at Alta Vista Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tranquilino Yara Jr.; her parents, Rebecco and Frutosa Maes Romero; two sons, Tony David Yara and Charlie Carlos Yara; four. brothers, Nick, Manuel, Tobias, and Celso Romero; stepmother Eufemia Gutierrez; father-in-law, Tranquilino Yara Sr; mother-in-law, Estella Gonzales; sisters-in-law: Sarah Romero, Marcella Padilla, Sarah Flynn, and Rosanna Vigil; brothers-in-law: Narciso Yara, Albert Yara, and Sostenes Yara. She is survived by four daughters: Jean Gallegos and husband Gene and Mary Montoya all of Perryton, TX, and Nora Chavez and Christine Pacheco and husband Albert all of Las Vegas, NM; one son, Tranquilino Yara III and wife Eva of Perryton, TX; two brothers: Pete Romero of Trujillo, NM and Alfredo Romero of Portales, NM; two sisters: Cecilia Estrada of Las Vegas, NM and Aurora Madrid of Clovis, NM; three half-sisters: Ida Romero and Tomasita Romero both of Las Vegas and Angela Romero of Tucumcari, NM; three half brothers: Luis Romero of Kansas City, KS, Albert Romero of Dodge City, KS, and Carlos Romero of Hereford, TX; a son-in-law, William (Billy) Chavez of Las Vegas, NM; a brother-in-law, Joe Yara and wife Lucy of Las Vegas, NM; four sisters-in-law: Mary Chavez and Teofilo of Tecolote, NM, Jennie Lopez and Armando and Antonia Yara all of Las Vegas, NM, and Rita Duran of Fremont, CA; one god-son, Margarito Romero; three goddaughters: Florinda Sena, Agnes Lujan, and Margie Tentiende: 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews relatives and friends especially Gene and Ruth and Palmer and Geneva Esquibel. A special thanks to Dr. Michael Lopez for being such a nice and caring doctor.She was born in Trementina, New Mexico on May 11, 1916. On December 3, 1939 she married Tranquilino Yara Jr. She served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and worked with her husband in several businesses. She managed Steakhouse Café, El Cafecito, and the White House Club. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, baking, cooking, and sewing and enjoyed singing. She was a very loving, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. A lifetime catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
