Isidro Gonzales

Isidro Gonzales, 95, a long time resident of Las Vegas, NM and who had been residing at the home of his daughter in Santa Fe, NM, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Maria and Naomi Allemand Gonzales; three sisters,Theresa Castillo, Donilia Baros, and Naomi Tapia; and one brother, Santiago Gonzales.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary A. Gonzales of Las Vegas, NM; four daughters, Viola Lorenzo and husband Mike of Denver, CO, Clorinda Martinez of Las Vegas, NM, Rose Marie Thornton and husband Robert of Santa Fe, NM, and Susie Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Fermin Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was born on May 14, 1916 in Lourdes, New Mexico. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Trujillo on September 3, 1945 at the San Isidro Church in Trujillo, NM. He worked for the Louis Lyster Construction Company for over 20 years as a cement finisher and was a farmer and rancher in the San Augustin area raising cattle, farming, and tending to his orchard. His favorite pass time was playing his violin with the Coro Santo Nino Choir at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. In fact his violin recordings are on file at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. A life long catholic, he was a faithful member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church up until the time he moved to Santa Fe to be with is daughter. He, along with his wife Mary, were Cursillistas. He was a member of the Society of San Jose.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. All services will be held from Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family has requested memorials be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
