Janie G. (Gordon) Nitcznski

Janie G. Nitzcnski, 65, a resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Wednesday at Vista Care Hospice in Albuquerque, NM with her family at her side. She was born in Las Vegas, NM on July 12, 1946. She owned her own accounting firm for the past 21 years from which many clients became her best friends. She married her childhood neighbor and best friend, Jesse T. Nitcznski (Tom) on June 9, 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Oleen Gordon.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tom of Las Vegas, NM; her children: Chris T. Nitcznski and wife Barbara of Denver, CO, Loal G. Tucker of El Rancho, NM, Denise N. Tucker of Los Alamos, NM, Daniel A. Nitcznski and wife Faye of Rio Rancho, NM, Elita Nitcznski of Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren: Antastazia, Loal P., Oneta, Shosha, Abrie, Kaye, and Edward; her mother-in-law, Oneta S. Nitcznski of Las Vegas, NM; her uncle Robert Gordon and wife Phyllis of Espanola, NM; and many dear cousins and friends.
Janie was born and raised in Las Vegas, NM. She was very proud of her upbringing by Johnny and Oleen. She grew up on 5th Street in Las Vegas, NM where she met her future husband, the boy next door Tom. She hunted dove with her father out of the back of the jeep. She later learned to drive in that red jeep. While growing up and throughout her life she thought of Lois Revell as a second mother. Janie graduated from Robertson High School in 1964, where
she belonged to the Order of Rainbow for girls. She graduated from New Mexico Highlands University in 1968, and met lifelong friend Camille Bohannon. After a brief stint in Corpus Christi, TX she moved to Albuquerque, NM. ON January 22, 1972 she married her first husband Dennis Tucker. She was active in he ABWA (American Business Women's Association), serving many roles. She had her son Loal in 1977 and daughter Denise in 1979. She and Dennis divorced in 1984. She began working as an accountant for Sunland Accounting and Management where she met lifelong friend Joan Bennett. In 1989 she reconnected with childhood neighbor and sweetheart Tom Nitcznski. They were married on June 9, 1990 in Glorieta, NM, surrounded by friends and their new family including four of Tom's children and Janie's two children. Janie and Tom started GSN Accounting Management in 1991. Tom and Janie lived in Grants, NM until Tom's retirement in 1997. Tom and Janie moved back to their hometown of Las Vegas, NM where they reconnected with many old friends.
She had great relationships with all of her clients, many of which became dear friends. While Janie and Tom were married they were very active in bowling, holding many positions on many boards, at the state, and local level. Janie was an active bowler until the last few years, but remained by Tom's side every night at bowling.
Janie was a wonderful mother to all of her children. She was known as Nana to all her grandchildren. She always had pictures of her children and grandchildren to show her friends and clients. She was a very understanding mother no matter what her children pulled our put her through. She was a great supporter of her family, showing up at every function her children and grandchildren had.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from the First Baptist Church, 201 Mountain View Drive, Las Vegas, NM. The interment will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Las Vegas with the following serving as casket bearers: John Schmelz, Tony Olmi, Gary Spear, Sam Abeyta, Greg Skol, Johnny Whetsell Sr, Mike Neas, and Roger Jones. Honorary casket bearers will be Robert Gordon, Bill Gordon, Larry Hart, and Fred Erb.
The family has requested memorials instead of flowers in her memory to the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 54, Las Vegas, NM 87701 or to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720
