JOE E. SENA
Joe E. Sena, a long time resident of Las Vegas and formerly of Las Tusas, NM, went to meet our Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Alta Vista Regional Hospital following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cesario and Carolina Padilla Sena; a brother, Lloyd Sena; and his mother-in-law, Estrellita Varela.He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elvira of Las Vegas; five children, Mary Ann Sandoval of Albuquerque, Joe V. Sena and wife Debra of Las Vegas, Jayne Lucero and husband Archie of Baltimore, MD, Patsy Sena of Las Vegas, Frank Sena and wife Jean of Austin, TX, Sally Sandoval and husband Joe of Las Vegas of Las Vegas; three sisters, Florence Garcia and husband Jim of Denver, CO, Mary Trujillo and husband Ramon of Melrose, NM, and Margarita Sena and fiancé Ralph Abeyta of Las Vegas; one brother, Cesario Sena and wife Emily of Melrose, NM; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Sena of Loveland, CO and Andi Romero and husband Premie of Denver, CO; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Flores and wife Sharon of Albuquerque. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Michael Sandoval, Tiana Rosette and husband Anthony, Jose Sena, Amber Sena, Frankie Sena, Melissa Leyba, and Tracy Romero; and by four great-grandchildren, Erin Sandoval, Cameron Sandoval, Saline Sena, and Alicia Rosette.Joe was born on March 27, 1917 in Las Tusas, NM to the late Cesario and Carolina Padilla Sena. He was a World War II Veteran and was honorably discharged on December 7, 1945 as a private-first class having served as a rifleman with the 118th Infantry, Second Division in France, Germany, and England. He was a life member of San Juan Argonne Post #1547 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his early years he worked for Bob Williams as a lumber miller for the New Mexico Mill and Lumber Company. Joe had a golden heart. He was a very honorable, humble, and hard working man. He loved to laugh, garden, buid thing, and enjoyed the frequent strawberry Sundays. Until his last days, Joe was prayerful and God-fearing. He enjoyed the company of his family who will continue to take pride in all the wonderful memories shared with Joe. Cremation has already taken place and services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow at 10:30 in the Santa Fe, National Cemetery. On line condolences can be sent to the family at www.gonzalesfunerals.com.
