John Phillip Pacheco, (MGYSGT, retired) 73, a resident of Woodland Park, CO passed away on July 25, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his spouses, Zeta Pacheco and Priscilla Pacheco; his parents, Felimon and Ermelinda Pacheco; brother Felimon Pacheco Jr.; a sister Betty Powell; brothers-in-law, Rafael Montoya, Alfred Vigil, and Alfred Powell; and a sister-in-law, Mae Pacheco.
He is survived by his brothers: Tony Pacheco and wife Cristella and Joseph Pacheco and wife Margo all of Rainsville, NM; sisters: Lupita Montoya of Rainsville, NM, Lena Vigil of Pueblo, CO, Flora Vigil and husband Gilbert of Albuquerque, NM, Evelyn Cordova and husband Deacon Ray of Rainsville, NM, Sister Mary Teresa Pacheco of Colon, Queretaro, Mexico, Lorraine French and husband Tom of Rainsville, NM, Simonita Lucero and husband Joe of Albuquerque, NM, Bertha Vasquez and husband Eleazar of Angleton, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born on April 24, 1039 in Rainsville, NM to the late Felimon and Ermelinda Lucero Pacheco. John was a retired marine who dedicated over 30 years to his country. Ranking as high as he could, Master Gunnery Sergeant, he spent 10 years assigned to the Pentagon in Washington, DC. John also completed 8 years assigned to Special Operations in London, England. John served during the Vietnam War as an advisor. Upon retiring he lived in Woodland, Park, CO and worked in the public schools. Services will be held in St. Gertrude's Parish in Mora, NM with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Father James Sanchez will celebrate the Mass. The interment will be in the Woodland Park, Colorado cemetery at a later date.
