JOHN PATRICK MARTINEZ

John Patrick Martinez, 42, a resident of Ribera, New Mexico went to be with our Lord on Friday, September 7, 2007. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Genaro and Margarita Benavidez and Procopio and Merejilda Martinez; and his father-in-law, Lazro Barela.He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Lillian Martinez of Ribera, NM; one daughter, Alisha Romero and husband Sal of Bernalillo, NM; two sons, Joshua Martinez of Ribera, NM and Patrick Martinez Jr. and companion Antoinette Lopez of Rowe, NM; his grandchildren: Samantha, Derrick, and Dominique Romero; his parents, Deacon Juan Martinez and wife Cecilia of Ribera, NM; two brothers: Charles Martinez and wife Ernestine and James Martinez and wife Ramona all of Santa Fe, NM; a sister, Germaine Pacheco and husband Tito of Ribera, NM; his mother-in-law, Geneva Barela of Mora, NM; brothers-in-law, Benjie Barela and Dorothy and Larry Barela and Lori all of Mora, NM; a godson, Daniel Pacheco of Ribera, NM; special uncles, Jerry Benavidez and wife Linda of Las Vegas and Roland Benavidez and wife Marcella of San Juan, NM; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born in Las Vegas, NM on May 25, 1965. He was a member of the San Miguel del Vado Church and was a Cursillista. He worked in the City of Las Vegas offices for 15 years and most recently was the store manager for Diamond Vogel Paint Center in Santa Fe. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing and four-wheeling.A rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. from the San Miguel del Vado Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the San Miguel del Vado Church. The interment will follow in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery.
