John Solano

John Solano, 87, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe on Saturday. He is survived by two sons: Phillip Solano of Pecos, NM and Angelo Solano of Las Vegas, NM; three daughters, Dolores Solano and Gloria Stewart both of Anchorage, AK and Laura Vigil of Las Vegas, NM; three sisters: Helen Maestas of Denver, CO, Dee Hernandez of Aurora, CO, and Aurelia Sandoval of Torrance, CA; two brothers, Roy Solano of Santa Clarita, CA and Tony Solano of Denver, CO; and by numerous grandchildren.
He honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a retired iron worker. He was a foster grandparent for the West Las Vegas Middle School. Golf was his passion. Cremation has taken place and a rosary celebrating his life will be conducted on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. from St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. The family have requested that memorials be sent to the Foster Grandparents Program here in Las Vegas.
