John James Vigil

            John James Vigil, 58, a resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on June 3, 2020 at Christus St. Vincent Hospital on Wednesday,  John is preceded in death by his father, George Vigil; his mother, Consuelo Martinez; two sisters: Connie “Cooka” Vigil and Jesusita Vigil; and his great-grandparents: Estanislado and Ignacita Martinez.

            John is survived by two daughters:  Alexis Vigil and spouse Dominic, and Carla Vigil and spouse Jorge; three grandchildren: Serenity Herrera, Eli Herrera, and Zackariah Ruelas all of Las Vegas, NM; brothers:  Arturo Vigil of Las Vegas, NM, Andrew Vigil and wife Anita and Paul Vigil all of Sapello, NM; aunts and uncles: Archie Martinez and wife Loretta of Sapello, Jane Bickham of Albuquerque, NM, Bea Gonzales and husband Rory of Sapello, NM, Rose Marie Padilla and spouse Vick of Albuquerque, NM, Michael Martinez and spouse Chavela of Sapello, NM, Marcella Martinez, Henrietta Martinez and husband Larry of Las Vegas, NM; nieces and nephews: Georgia Vigil and husband Jesse, Santiago Vigil and husband Juan Diego of Albuquerque, NM, Cisco Vigil and wife Tessa of Hemit, CA, Johnnylee Vigil-Flores of Clovis, NM; great-nieces and nephews:  Orion Vigil, Aurora Vigil, Osiris of Hemit, CA, along with other family and friends that adored him.  He will be missed and forever in our hearts.

            John was Born in Sapello, NM on June 23, 1961 to George Vigil and Consuelo Martinez.  He received his GED and then went on to Luna Community College and received his degree in Culinary Arts and wood work.  He was a very successful man throughout his years.  John loved cooking, doing arts and crafts, weaving, doing puzzles and his favorite thing to do was to be outdoors listening to music with his grandkids and family.

            A 30 minute viewing for everyone on Tuesday June 9, 2020 at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd.  There will be a 5 person limit for the viewing.  Cremation will take place and the graveside committal service on Saturday, June 13, 2020 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Sapello, NM beginning at 10:00 a.m.  For those wishing to attend a gathering will be in the parking lot at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. at 9:00 a.m. and we will drive all together to Sapello for the service.
