Joni Veronica Gallegos

Joni V. Gallegos, 38 a life long resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Tuesday from injuries she received in an automobile accident near Storrie Lake. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Tita Apodaca; great-grandmother and god mother, Josefita Jaramillo, her aunt, Lucy Apodaca; and a nephew Juan Fermin Maes III.

She is survived by her parents, Juan Fermin and Diana Maes of Las Vegas, NM; five sons, Michael A. Gallegos of Denver, CO, Sebastian L. Gallegos, Fabian E. Gallegos, Ancelmo M. Gonzales, and Jesus Feliz Gonzales all of Las Vegas, NM; her companion, Ancelmo M. Gonzales of Las Vegas, NM; two brothers, Tommy Gallegos and wife Fran of Peoria, AZ, and Mark Gallegos of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Angelica Gallegos of Las Vegas, NM; two step-brothers: Juan Fermin Maes Jr of Aurora, CO and Jude Maes and companion Megan of Greeley, CO; an uncle, Cayetano Apodaca and wife Lucy of San Jose, NM; her mother-in-law, Marcella Gonzales of Las Vegas, NM; god-mother, Brenda Rogers of Las Vegas, NM, and by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was born in Las Vegas , NM on July 11, 1972 and graduated from Robertson High School. She enjoyed drawing, arts and crafts, vegetable gardening and raising her family. Services will be held from Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Cameron Sandy, Orlando LeFebre, Jose Apodaca, John Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, and Leroy Baca. Honorary bearers will be Carlos Sandy, Gilbert Richard Madrid, and Augustin Apodaca.
