Jose Maria Martinez

Jose M. Martinez, 70, a resident of Mosquero, NM, passed away on Tuesday at St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, NM.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Nabor and Ramonsita Aragon Martinez; four brothers: Benino, George, Cruz, and Navor Martinez; and sisters Susana Gutierrez and Frances Cordova.

            He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Gutierrez of Mosquero, NM; a step-son, Christopher Martinez of Las Vegas, NM; a grandson, Cruzito Vigil Martinez of Mosquero, NM; two sisters:  Della Garcia and Lupe Jaramillo (Chon) all of Espanola, NM; three brothers:  Mike Martinez of Tucumcari, NM, Simon Martinez (Elaine) and Alfonso Martinez (Irene) all of Espanola, NM;three sisters-in-law: Tomasita Martinez of Mosquero, NM, Corine Martinez of Tucumcari, NM, and Pasquala Martinez of Espanola, NM; and my numerous nieces and nephews.

            Jose graduated from Mosquero High School and worked for the Libby and Mitchell ranches.  He was a welder and a a mechanic and also worked construction.   He enjoyed his horses and loved kids.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas.  Father George V. Salazar will conduct the Mass.   The interment will follow in the Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Cemetery in Sabinoso, N.M with the following serving as pallbearers:  Chris Gutierrez, Ray Gutierrez, Jose Palos, Ramon Gutierrez, Luis Gutierrez, and Navor Gutierrez.
