Max Romero, 63 a resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Alta Vista Hospital, following a sudden illness. He was born on December 4, 1946 to Juan B.B. Romero and Adela Segura Romero.
He married Lisa Padilla on June 28, 2000 here in Las Vegas, NM they had 24 wonderful years together. Max worked 18 years as a Coal Miner he also worked construction for several years. He was a High School graduate and had Technical training to work in the mines.
Max loved spending time with his wife and grandchildren, whom he put before everything else. He was a talented musician and singer. He formed the band "Aztlan" with his sons in Trinidad Co. and "Smooth Moves" in Las Vegas, NM. In addition, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a member Los Hermanos and Los Compadres motorcycle clubs and ultimately rode as a Freedom Rider. Max and his wife Lisa enjoyed hanging out with their friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, great grandparents Ricarda Segura, and Maria De Los Angeles Segura, grandparents Marcelina and Romaneta Segura, sister Edera Segura, brother Marcelino Segura, aunt Eufracia Torres, father & mother-in-law Adolfo and Anna Padilla, and sister-in-law Martha Valdez. He is survived by his wife Lisa Padilla-Romero, daughters Celina Romero of Monument CO., Melissa Lewis and husband Michael of Bromerton, WA, Alicia Padilla and fiancé Steve Martinez of Las Vegas, NM; sons Max Joseph Romero and wife Mary of Littleton, Co., and Anthony Romero of Las Vegas, NM; sisters Charlotte (Tudy) Gonzales and husband George of Las Vegas, NM, Dora Vanslyke of Trinidad, Co., and Lydia Maes of Cheyenne, Wyo; grandchildren A.J., Angelica, and Serenity Romero, Jaden Padilla, Brandon and Lauren Martinez brothers-in-law: Edmundo Valdez, Larry Padilla and wife Sally, Michael Padilla and wife Rosemary, Charlie Padilla, and Patrick Padilla and wife Denise, all of Albuquerque, N.M., Jimmy Padilla and wife Bernadette of Los Lunas, NM and Andrew Padilla and wife Shalee of Hillsboro, Ore.; sisters-in-law Gloria Martinez and husband Gerald of La Mesilla, NM, Judy Padilla and fiancé David Reese and Audrey Olguin and husband Rodney all of Belen, NM and over 50 nephews and nieces and countless friends.
Pallbearers are George Martinez, Scott Sena, Orlando Marquez, Patrick Medina, Julian Jaramillo and Eddie "Bardo" Gonzales, Honorary pallbearers are the Freedom Riders and Los Hermanos motorcycle club.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. All services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary Sunday, January 3 at 7 p.m. and the Mass of Burial at 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning. The family has requested that any donations be made to his wife Lisa Padilla-Romero, 1924 Montezuma St., Las Vegas, NM 87701.
Max always saw the good in everyone, he has numerous friends and family, all the lives he touched are truly blessed and he will be dearly missed.
