Joseph D. Gabbert (Joe), 64, of Las Vegas, NM, beloved son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away suddenly on September 22, 2022. Joe was born on November 9, 1957, to Lavern and Amalia (Baca) Gabbert. He was born and raised in Las Vegas, NM where he served as a volunteer fire fighter and worked as a Chef. Joe loved his family, cooking, yard work, and plants.
Joe was preceded in death by the love of his wife, Carmen Otero; father Lavern Gabbert; grandfather Lorenzo Baca; and grandmother Leonore Baca. Joe is survived by his two sons, seven grandchildren, one great grandson, mother, brothers, and many nieces and nephews: Joseph (Hope) Gabbert, Michael (Jackie) Gabbert, Anthony, Lilly, Destany (John), Lauren, Samantha (Oscar), Lyrik, Marlee, Jahseh, Joseph (JJ), Amalia Gabbert, Richard Gabbert, Charles Gabbert, Chris (Krystal) Gabbert and family, Tino (Monica) Martinez and family, Stephanie (Jeremy) Anaya and family, and Raymond Gabbert.
A rosary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Father George V. Salazar on Thursday, October 13, 2022 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The interment of his cremains followed in the family plot in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
