Juanita M. Lucero, 55, a resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away at her home on Sunday evening surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Miguel and Juanita Lucero and Enrique and Sotera Gomez, and a great-nephew, baby Elias Arellanes.
She is survived by her parents, Epifanio and Isabel Gomez Lucero of the family home; sisters: Geraldine Tripp and husband William (Billy) and Carla Lucero and companion Charlie (David) Romero all of Las Vegas, NM, and Dorothy Lucero and companion, Joseph (Sonny) Lujan of Pueblo, CO; nieces and nephews: Antoinette Tripp and companion Roberto Arellanes of Las Vegas, NM, Jaclyn Tripp of Albuquerque, NM, Louis Enrique Chavez and companion Adrian Mercado, Lori Ann Chavez and companion Phillip Amaro all of Pueblo, CO, Miguel Lucero, and Brian Romero of Las Vegas, NM, Salomon Gomez and wife Rebecca at Rancho Enrique of Sandia Park, NM and Charles (Chuck) Martinez who were special cousins that she considered her brothers that she never had, Gloria Marquez, a special cousin that she considered a sister of Las Vegas, NM; Sylvia Vigil her special madrina and husband Phillip of Albuquerque, NM; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
She was born in Las Vegas, NM on January 13, 1954. She was a child care provider to many neighborhood children. She was a second mother to all her nephews, nieces, and all who were under her care. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. Services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church with a rosary on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. The interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
