Larry Robert Montano, 54, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Monday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Pauline Chavez and parents who raised him, Savino and Estefanita Montano of Tecolote, NM. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Griego Montano of the family home; one son, Andrew Montano and fiancé Danielle Montoya of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter, April Montano of Las Vegas; and his beloved pet, Louie. Also surviving are seven brothers: Tony Chavez and wife Lorraine, William Chavez, Abel Chavez and wife Veronica all of Las Vegas, NM, Eddie Chavez of Pueblo, CO, Johnny Montano and wife Nancy of Albuquerque, NM, Joe Montano of Denver, CO, and William Montano of Durango, CO; seven sisters: Gloria Montoya and husband Sunny and Dolores Garcia and husband Rudy all of Pueblo, CO, Faye Martinez and husband Leroy, Marcella Jaramillo, Rita Lyons and husband Harold and Eva Montano all of Las Vegas, and Anita Sisneros of Durango, CO; his father and mothers-in law, Frank and Carmen Griego of Las Vegas and Bob and Adela Montoya of Denver, CO; three brothers-in-law, Frank Griego Jr. And wife Ying, Roger Griego and companion Sonia, and B. J. Montoya and wife Carla of Denver, CO; three sisters-in-law, Eileen C de Baca and husband Michael and Cheryl Griego and companion Robert Morris all of Albuquerque, NM, and Carol Griego and companion Robert of Las Vegas; several nieces, nephews, and lots of friends in particular all the gang on the Park and Ride Commuter Bus.
Larry was born in Las Vegas on January 17, 1955. He married Elizabeth Griego on September 14, 1986 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. He was an avid hunter, was a former little league coach and loved animals. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.gonzalesfunerals.com.
Cremation has taken place and services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of Billy G. Rogers at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd.
