Lenore O. (Olivas) Gurule

Lenore O. Gurule, 94, a resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away at Alta Vista Regional Hospital on Tuesday following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Juanita Padilla Olivas; her husband, Frank Gurule; a son, Richard Gurule, and a brother, Margarito Olivas, and a sister Nancy Martinez.
She is survived by six sons: Raymond Gurule and wife Lucille, and Sevie Gurule of Las Vegas, NM, Alex Gurule and wife Mary of Thornton, CO, Frank Gurule of Denver, CO, Jose C. Gurule and wife Crystal and Ernest Gurule and wife Sally all of Lake Jackson, TX; five daughters: Mary Griego and Flora Barela and husband Manuel all of Las Vegas, NM, Teresa Trujillo and husband Eddie of Denver, CO, Aggie Gurule and Patricia Sena both of Las Vegas, NM; one brother, George M. Olivas and wife Luci of Denver, CO; 34 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born in Manuelitas, NM on March 30, 1918. She was united in marriage to Frank Gurule at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church in Sapello, NM in 1938. He preceded her in death in 2004. She was a certified nurse attendant at the New Mexico Medical Center for 23 years and was a member of the Carmeliltas Society. She enjoyed embroidery and crocheting, bingo, and playing at the casinos. She spent most of her time raising family.
A visitation will be held on Thursday in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Services will be held from Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. Father C. John Brasher will celebrate the Mass. The interment will follow in Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Cemetery in Sapello, NM with the following grandchildren serving as casket bearers: Joseph L. Griego, Anthony Trujillo, Johnny C. Montoya, Marcus Montoya, Olivia Gonzales, and June Martinez. Chuck Griego, a grandson, will deliver the eulogy.
